Number Six Loves: Cord, Felt & Suede
October 03, 2017AW17 is proving itself to be the season of world-class fabrics, from cord and fleece, to suede and velour, some of our favourite brands are really outdoing themselves right now. There’s no two ways about it, good design is at the heart of what we do at Number Six, and fabric is a major part in that. Some of this stuff’s got to be seen to be believed, so we’ve put together a selection of our staff and customer favourites so far.
“Timeless, functional, easy on the eyes”
There’s a lot to say about corduroy. Thanks to their huge success last season, Lois Jeans have brought their classic Jumbo Cords into view, and have started a trend that we’ve really gotten our teeth into. You can also now find cords with us from Levi’s, Universal Works, and even a pair from Saturdays NYC. Depending on what you go for, we brought in a range of cuts right across the board. Levi’s 511 Slim Fit Cords are cut with a gentle taper to fit the leg without being too restrictive or tight. If you’re looking for a dead straight cut, go for the Saturdays NYC Field Cord Pants, or if old school vibes are more your thing, we’d recommend a pair of Lois’ Jumbo Cords straight away.
Corduroy isn’t limited to trousers, Soulland have crafted the Lakin jacket in a deep green, heavyweight cord and is cut in a classic Type III-esque silhouette. Once or twice a season, you get pieces like this jacket that come along. Pieces you cannot go wrong with if you tried; they’re timeless, functional, and easy on the eyes. Even if you’re not ready to go full-on cord just yet, and you’re looking for something a bit more subtle, the corduroy collar has been a staple in Barbour’s wax jackets since the beginning. The SI Bedale, Reelin and Ashby jackets are known worldwide for that trademark collar, it adds a bit of texture and warmth.
“Genius fabrics”
Our favourite footwear brands are also stepping it up this season, Converse have introduced a 3-piece capsule collection of three styles with vintage suede uppers instead of their usual heavyweight canvas. Novesta have also brought out their felt range for this AW season, we’ve brought in eight different colourways to show our appreciation. Absolutely genius fabrics like these keep us interested, keeps our menswear-heads on the straight and narrow for premium steeze. And you can’t argue with that.
