Seasonal Highlights | Staff Picks
November 07, 2018Here at Number Six, we pride ourselves on being able to bring in the good stuff and showing a proper interest in what we do. We travel the world to provide a handpicked selection of clothing that we really value, and truly believe in. Now that AW18 is in full flow, we took some time to catch up with the team and get some seasonal highlights together.
"Classic silhouettes"
Just like any half decent photographer, Scott’s usually found hiding in our studio. He might not be so familiar with seeing daylight, but he’s no stranger to putting a decent outfit together. This week Scott’s brought together some standout pieces from the Number Six rails. He’s layered up a variety of classic silhouettes to show off subtle textures and prints, without going overboard. There are some nautical vibes from Armor Lux in the base layer, and a super versatile smock and gilet combination from our mates La Paz. It’s finished with a lightweight overshirt from the almost-new kids on the block, Barbour Beacon.
"Heavy-duty outerwear"
As one of our longest standing members of staff, Bryony’s our in-house copywriter and all-around menswear nerd. In her own words, there’s nothing better than some heavy-duty outerwear with a bit of military heritage behind it. This week she’s put together vibrant knitwear from Scotland’s finest, Kestin Hare and a midweight cotton twill Corps Shirt from workwear experts, Universal Works. Every element is key, but Bryony’s made sure the spotlight falls on the Zip Parka, part of the Barbour x Engineered Garments collaboration. Crafted from a 4oz waxed Sylkol, it’s fully waterproof, made in the heart of Britain, and represents the meeting of two design giants. Nice one.
"Carefully considered"
As our buyer, Joe gets the first pick of anything we bring in to join the Number Six collection. Self-proclaimed to be our ‘best-dressed member of staff ’ he’s got a reputation to live up to when putting a look together. After some careful consideration, Joe selected a full Universal Works get-up that’s as functional as it is brilliant. He’s shown us how to push the boundaries of layering using varying fabric weights. The base layer Uniform Shirt is crafted from needle weight corduroy to add some texture, the wool-blend Cardigan adds warmth, and the N1 Jacket rounds off the traditional military styling. Taken directly from a classic flying jacket, standout details include a sherpa collar, a button storm flap, and super functional pockets across the body to store anything you might need.
