Libretto

Founded in 1997 by Thomas Cushing in order to create Kate Spade Paper. Libretto happened to be Kate Spade’s first license which was a blend of illustration and fine leather goods combining Kate’s signature fabrics and leathers. This definitely gave the social stationary industry something to talk about. Since then the brand has expanded its horizons by creating several stationery and accessory collections, under license for leading European design and fashion brands which include Christian Lacroix papier, The New York Times, Lotta Jansdotter, The Victoria & Albert Museum and Architectural Watercolors to name a few. The ethos behind Libretto is to make social stationary fun, inspiring and amusing. Our favorite’s here at Number Six include The New York Times Now and Then Journal which is a 152 page hardbound and gilded B5 journal featuring photographs of the Big Apple from The New York Times Photo Archives. Photographs of landmarks are presented alternatively dividing the book into twelve sections with both photographs taken from the same vantage point, sometimes 100 years apart. The Libretto New York Times Paris Journal is another favorite featuring photos of the Eiffel Tower the New York Times Photo Archives. The end papers also include old maps of the city. All journals include a red grosgrain ribbon page marker and often include a hot stamped New York Times logo. You can shop them in-store or online here .
