New Season Barbour, Velour preview and Further Sale Reductions
July 05, 2010We have been getting spoilt rotten recently. Reason being, we've just been on our travels, checking out all of the fine garments that are going to be gracing the pages of www.numbersixlondon.com and the rails of the store and boy oh boy, what a treat everyone is in for. We cannot say too much just now but there are some absolute belters in the pipeline. Keep your eyes and ears open and in the not too distant future, we will be able to let you into the circle of trust to tell you all about some of the gear we have got on the way for the future.
As well as looking at wares that will be getting delivered in Jan/Feb 2011 (yes, that is how far ahead we are looking) we have been getting deliveries of the forth coming autumn winter season and whilst the temperature has been pretty much as nice as we could wish for across these Great British Isles, the fact that Barbour has just delivered doesn't seem to bother us. It could be absolute club tropicana out there and we would still come over all excited as a little kid on Xmas eve (there goes the first mention of Xmas in 2010 so far) as Barbour is pretty much right up there for us competing for the undisputed champion of outerwear on behalf of South Shields, UK. It never ceases to amaze us that it can be sweltering hot out there but you still get fellows walking in of the very hot street to get their new season wax cotton fix. Be amongst the first (like us) and make sure you are not left all upset when the temperature, inevitably, drops like a lead balloon.
We got a little treat from our favourite elder statesman of all things that are preppy, Mr Ralph Lauren. A much sought after denim/chambray shirt with the extra special multi coloured polo player, several beauty washed out check numbers and some fresh colours in polo shirts as well as a new colour in the all time classic heavyweight sweat hoody (300 oz fleece backed jersey if you really want to know). Some of this gear has the ability to reduce grown men to tears but when you know what we know about what is due to come in on top of this lot, then you had better have the kleenex at the ready. Tissues at the ready for our latest Polo Ralph Lauren.
On top of our buying trips over to Paris and Copenhagen recently, we very excitedly jumped on board a Ryan Air flight to picture postcard Gothenburg to pay a visit to one of our all time favourites (and a very able challenger to Mr Laurens prepmeister title) Velour. We had a little preview of next Spring Summers new range which pretty much left us near as dammit speechless. The owner and designer, a very nice, hospitable and ridiculously talented fellow called Per Anderson showed us his last few months work and the phrase "jaw droppingly good" is a quite considerable understatement. We took the liberty of taking a couple of snaps of their very impressive set up and in around 4 weeks time, we will be able to show you just how good the new collection is. We are waiting with baited breath for their latest garms to land but if you are reading this now then it is pretty much guaranteed you will be amongst the first to know when UPS Dave carries those eagerly awaited boxes onto our sunny Dray Walk premises.
Right, enough waxing lyrical for this week. Don't mean to go on too much but there is a lot of very exciting things happening and we just like to make sure you are kept in the loop. Be a terrible shame for anyone to miss out.
Remember, the Number Six Sale is still going strong but with only a couple of weeks to go, we recommend getting in there sharpish if you have been after a bargain or run the risk of missing out. Don't say we didn't tell you.
Next week, we got some very nice new Clarks Originals turning up so until then
Au revoir
