Number Six Latest - New Season Velour

One of our favourites, Velour has arrived from the sunny, sometimes chilly but always very welcoming shores of Gothenburg. Seems to us that a lot of what is good that is going on right now appears to be coming out of Scandinavia and if we remember rightly, this was a prediction that was made by ourselves way back in 2007 when we first clapped eyes on a few of the brands that have gone on to establish themselves as the more innovative players in this competitive market. The bar has been raised to a particularly high level which is in no small part due to the ever consistent collections these great Danish and Swedish brands continue to dazzle us with. Velour have a particularly interesting history to us as they were born out of a young Swedish fellows fascination with the products that used to sell out of his parents very successful Gothenburg based Vintage store that was brilliantly named Nostalgia. Taking inspiration from the vast array of historic and classic garments Velour was born and has continually impressed us season after season with their own personal preppy takes on what we can only define as the clothing every discerning male needs to have hanging in their wardrobe. Great knitwear, great jersey, great outerwear and above all, great shirts which we find arriving constantly up there in our top 5 favourites. Whilst we are on the subject of great shirts, we just had to bring your attention to this absolute beauty from Polo Ralph Lauren . We have an image in our head of Mr Lauren sitting in his house in the Hamptons sipping champagne, looking at a few of his second to none check shirts, not knowing which one to produce that season when all of a sudden he has a moment of clarity and decides to combine all of the checks into one shirt. The result, something that pretty much makes us want to smile from ear to ear. Ralph also droppped in a classic and authentic, right down to the very last detail, reefer coat in a super warm and rain proof melton wool . Here's hoping for a long cold winter so we can get plenty of wear out of amazing pieces like this. Was supposed to have Fred Perry, Calabrese and Heritage Research up for you this week but things have been slightly manic here so we promise an abundance of fine threads for you around next Thursday/Friday. Until then, have a stupendous weekend Au revoir www.numbersixlondon.com
