Number Six welcomes New Balance to the fold...

Question: How cool is New Balance? If your answer was "pretty damn cool", then you are in sync with us here at Number Six. Over the last one hundred plus years, New Balance can list quite a few career highlights that ended up being total 'game-changers' in the grand scheme of the athletic world and, in turn, sneaker head communities.

In 1906, the brand was born thanks to inspiration from a chickens foot. NB creator, William Riley, believed it was important for the foot to be completely balanced, just like a chickens foot, and therefore be supported. He designed and created arch supports which sold well to workers on their feet all day. As the years went by, New Balance went from strength to strength and Riley manufactured New Balance's first pair of running shoes in 1938. This was the catalyst and the hits just kept on coming and have continued to come as we hit the end of 2013 with two releases of an 80's classic we are proud to stock.

The New Balance 577 made massive waves when it first hit the shelves in 1989. Designed as a high performance, supportive running shoe, the classic silhouette, supportive features and unrivalled comfort made it popular across all audience types, not just runners. Based around the patented ENCAP sole that was hugely popular in the 1980s, this technology continually brings the boys (and girls) to the yard. The midsole technology brings a supportive, durable rim of polyurethane that is crafted perfectly here in the UK to combine with the soft inner EVA core for shock absorption and comfort.

We have the 577 on offer in Navy and Grey- two classic colours for a classic shoe. But, be quick as these made in the UK beauties are bound to be snapped up faster than Usain Bolt's PB - that's pretty fast. Also keep yours eyes and ears open for continual drops from New Balance here at Number Six. Until next time!
