The original windproof lighter, and one of the only objects with a firm place in Oscar-winning cinematic history. First designed in 1932, Zippo lighters supported American troops during WWII, and old school Hollywood names alike. The basic mechanism is still the same today, which means it's one of the most original ideas we can name to date. Now that's good design.
